FROM THE PRESIDENT – August 2010     

Dear AWN members,

I hope everyone’s summer has gone well and that it hasn’t sped by as fast as mine has!  Many of you are getting ready for kids to go back to school; I hope you will consider patronizing the members of AWN as much as possible.

Our July meeting was an awesome event; Rick Palmer with the Small Business Development Center did a great job.  I, for one, was very encouraged about the possibilities and resources available for prospective new businesses as well as current businesses.  A special thanks to Sharon and Janice for securing this wonderful program.

The directories are PRINTED!  If you were unable to attend the meeting you should be receiving yours soon in the mail.  A HUGE thank you to Elena for all her hard work in getting it together, to everyone who renewed their membership before the print deadline and to those who purchased advertising.  The directory is a valuable resource to our members and without your help it would not be possible.  Also included with your directory is a print out of your user name and password for the website.  We would like to encourage everyone to sign on and check their contact information to be sure that it is accurate.  Also be sure to submit any upcoming event’s that you know of to the calendar.  And on a special note please be sure to post any job opening that you know of in the area.

A reminder to all that we will NOT be holding our regular meeting in August.  Instead we will be joining with AAUW, the Women’s Forum, and the League of Women Voters in hosting the first Louise Daniel Women’s History Luncheon, 11:30 to 1:30pm in the Oak/Acorn room at Amarillo College. I encourage everyone to attend this event which also serves as our celebration of Women’s Equality Day.
