OUR MISSION:

Our mission is to build an effective organization of women business owners and professionals that is committed to the success of its members as well as an exchange of business. First and foremost Amarillo Women's Network is about making connections. These connections are vital to help us grow as people and as businesswomen, many of which turn into lifelong friendships and/or business leads, sales, clients, partnerships, and even ventures.

Amarillo Women's Network raises money for scholarships for graduating high school students and returning adult female students looking to further their education. Partnering with Amarillo's Rotary Club, AWN members help mentor high school students all over Amarillo. In these ways, Amarillo Women's Network is helping our future leaders gain a better understanding and working knowledge of the world outside of academia so that they are equipped with the tools to make it in whatever field they choose.

AWN welcomes members who are dedicated to the advancement and success of professional women. To push this agenda, every year AWN holds an award ceremony for women who have shown achievements in their life, careers, or philanthropically. The award winners are nominated by our members and voted on by a committee, who chooses from a pool of highly successful, career driven, and/or with a large passion for the community.

OUR HISTORY

Amarillo Women’s Network began in the summer of 1980 as an informal luncheon meeting for a few area career women. They recognized that Amarillo lacked a professional organization that addressed itself primarily to the concerns and career needs of business women.  At that time other civic organizations were not as open to women as they are now.  Business opportunities and career choices were much more limited as well.  AWN gave women the opportunity to promote their businesses and/or themselves while creating a valuable network of business contacts and friends.

The choices and opportunities that women have today are limitless.  AWN still serves as a source of information and resources to assist women in advancement of their careers and businesses by sponsoring a variety of informative, educational and motivational programs for members and guests.

Amarillo Women's Network is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization.
